Wedding favours are small gifts given as a gesture of appreciation or gratitude to guests from the bride and groom during a wedding ceremony or  reception. It is a  tradition that has been carried on for hundreds of years.

Early Favours were gifts given to guests and they were known as ‘bonbonnieres’. In the old days sugar was a sign of wealth, and as such; guests were often presented with a sugar cube which was a sign of the wealth of the couple getting married.

As sugar became more affordable to the general public, sugared almonds became a typical favour.

These days it is still common for them to contain something sweet such as chocolates or confectionery.
